This one surprised me, as I believe Disney has gone downhill with their movies, and I am a sucker for the classics. But I can’t believe how amazing this movie is, and it has brought my hope back that Disney can return the the quality movies I had when I was a child.

Flynn Rider. I love a bad boy with a good heart. I loved his voice (which by the way the guy who did it is equally adorable. No I never seen Chuck but its on my to do as soon as it goes on to Netfllix Streaming.) He was hilarious. I loved that he wasn’t a singer, but still did the singing parts and sounded amazing. It made the song sound much more heart felt that it was the same actor. I loved this movie a lot more than I thought I would.
I feel the need to elaborate a tad. One thing I didn’t like, is that she wanted to see the lanterns so badly. She needed motivation to leave the tower I get that, but I felt this was poorly planned because it simply didn’t make sense to me why her mother didn’t 1.) lie about Rapulzel’s birthday, after all she did STEAL the princess. Or 2.) Lie about the lanterns and say it was a holiday or something (like fireworks on the 4th of July or something). I know its a children’s movie and I am probably thinking into it too much, but I really felt that this was illogical and the entire movie surrounds that plot point. And I felt other Disney movies aren’t illogical even though they are children’s movies.
BUTT, now that I have that TINY annoyance out of the way, I loved that the villian wasn’t simply evil or mean, like most step mothers, she was smart. She basically fooled everyone in the entire movie. She fooled the king and queen because they never figured out that she took their daughter, she fooled Rapunzel multiple times, she fooled the two thieves that were with Flynn. She almost got away with it all.
I loved that the horse (I forget his name) and lizard had such and amazing personality without talking. Disney did it once before with Pocahontas (they may have done it multiple times I don’t remember), but this time, I actually felt their personality much more, it was so much better than in the past.
I loved that Rapunzel was modern and could handle herself, but yet that didn’t take away from her asking for help or take away from her feminine side. Other Princesses have done this too, (Tiana and Meg and Mulan) but I felt that when Disney created the strong woman, it was almost like they didn’t need the male gender at all. While I love strong women, I think that admitting you need help, and accepting help doesn’t make you weak. I loved the fact that she was strong and could handle herself, but she was also scared, and at times depended on Flynn.
Don’t get me wrong, all the movies I compared Tangled to I love dearly as well, but I just want to point out why I love Tangled and why I think it fits in and is amazing as well. Tangled actually had a romance that was a “partnership” where they were both independent, but still leaned on each other when it was necessary, and THAT is what a real relationship is about.
Okay I rambled for too long. Time to end this. I love Tangled. The End.
